Dr Ziblim Iddi, the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, has urged media practitioners to promote a positive image of the country to the world.
He said the media, which played a pivotal role in national development as the fourth estate of the realm, is a reliable source of information and education to the public with a responsibility of projecting the nation in a positive manner. Jamaica's Minister of Tourism, Hon. Edmund Bartlett and the Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Hon. Olivia Grange have jointly endorsed the “Year of Return, Ghana 2019”.
The Year of Return is an initiative of the government of Ghana which is intended to encourage people of African descent to visit Ghana. A few months after undergoing renovation, the performance theatre of the Centre for National Culture (CNC) in Koforidua has been commissioned.
The 1,500 seating capacity auditorium was officially commissioned by the Deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts & Culture, Dr. Ziblim Iddi over the weekend. “AFRIMA is owned by Nigerians, and Ghanaians used our hard-earned taxpayers' money to sponsor each year. AGAFEST belongs to Ghanaians so Ghana must use our taxpayers' money to sponsor. The ministry must be able to sponsor AGAFEST which belongs to and owned by Ghanaians. The founder of the annual Africa Gospel Awards Festival (AGAFEST), Prince Mackay has called on the government of Ghana to support the gospel award scheme with a sum of 1 million US dollars.
